Sportandfashion-news Netflix Reviews: Double Jeopardy

Written By Unknown on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 | 9:34 AM

In this odyssey of me watching movies, there will definitely be some I cannot explain why I chose to watch
this movie. There are a lot of them in the late 90s to early 00's remembering even as a kid I wanted to see it but could not because it was rated R (THANKS PARENTS). Double Jeopardy is an example of  this kind of movie where I really had no idea why I felt the need to put it into my Netflix list. There were some entertaining parts, but I could have sent my parents a 'Thank you note' for telling me to avoid this one.

Cast: Ashley Judd, Tommy Lee Jones, Bruce Greenwood
Genre: Crime thriller

Charlie's Ratings: 2 out 5 - To be honest, this is a movie you can watch on Lifetime on a Saturday afternoon. Now granted, the Saturday afternoon viewing does not get you Judd's sex scene in the beginning but I digress. The movie is pretty much how you would expect it to go with a female lead where she seeks revenge on her husband that set her up for murder. There is nothing really alluring or twist-worthy about the movie.

What's interesting about Judd waking up and not realizing what she done goes back to one of my favorite quotes from my friend Fant, "I got so drunk last night, you could tell me I killed a guy and I would believe you." Basically, this is what happens to Judd. She comes to find out that her husband is not dead and goes on a vigilant manhunt in search of him all of the country. My big issue with the manhunt is she never really faces conflict completely. Like there are scenes where it seems like Judd is dead to rights and somehow she escapes out of them including one involving the husband, not the cop played by Tommy Lee Jones, late in the movie. It is all fairly too predictable when it is all said and done.

The reason it at least gets two stars out of me is it was quick to watch. I stayed up way too late one night watching it while working because it moved pretty fast. So if you are looking for a quick movie and into this genre, it might do the trick.

IMDB: 6.3/10
Rotten Tomatoes: 25%
