Chelsea could make a sensational bid to re-sign Daniel Sturridge from Liverpool this summer,SportsDirect News understands.
Sturridge has been in superb form since switching Stamford Bridge for Anfield, finding a new lease of life under manager Brendan Rodgers, who has used the England international in his preferred position upfront. The 24-year-old was often used out wide during his time with Chelsea, and never truly reached his best form for the club before leaving in a £12million deal last January. Still, with Sturridge now looking much improved and Chelsea in the market for a new striker, it is thought that Jose Mourinho could make an audacious attempt to bring him back to the club next season. The Reds star's value will no doubt have shot up since last year, and it seems unlikely that the club would agree to sell such an important player to a rival, though this transfer saga will no doubt spark memories of Fernando Torres' £50m move from Liverpool to Chelsea back in 2011. The Blues are also being linked with Atletico Madrid's Diego Costa, and may have more luck in bringing in a new striker from abroad. Liverpool, meanwhile, will also be facing a fight to keep another star player in Luis Suarez from joining Real Madrid.
