Chelsea fans here in the Football Transfer Tavern are looking up with interest at the latest news coming from Metro. The publication seem to be under the impression that Blues manager Jose Mourinho has claimed he may have to make some sacrifices to comply with Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. The reports claim that high profile loan duo Romelu Lukaku and Thibaut Courtois could be sold permanently to comply with the regulations. As our landlord quips on his way over to the pool table with a tray loaded full of snacks, Mourinho has been at his very best when it comes to mind games of late and has made it very clear that Manchester City are not complying with the rules of FFP. He also made the point that his Chelsea side were looking to comply with the rules - for once - and said that it could well be a sacrifice he is willing to make. He noted: "Chelsea adapted well to the situation. When you see De Bruyne, who played three or four matches, give us a big profit, there are other players who maybe don’t play a single match for Chelsea and we will look to sell them at a profit. "We have had to organise ourselves in a different way. Before me, Chelsea did fantastic work in this level: Lukaku, De Bruyne, Courtois, young [Thorgan] Hazard and [Lucas] Piazon." As our punters note, the two stars of the loan world this season have indeed been Lukaku and Courtois, and selling them would be a huge mistake, especially when the likes of David Luiz are on the fringes of the first team and still at the club.
