Man United Ready to Sack David Moyes as Club Line-Up Jurgen Klopp As Summer Replacement

Man United will sack David Moyes at the end of the current campaign if he fails to secure a top four finish and the Old Trafford side have already earmarked a move to bring in German Jurgen Klopp to replace him.

The Glazers are confident they can lure Klopp away from the Westfalenstadion side with Dortmund having fallen well off the Bundesliga pace set by all conquering Bavarian side Bayern Munich, indeed they have also fallen behind Bayer Leverkusen in the domestic standings. Klopp may feel that the chances of overcoming the current domination presided over by Bayern Munich are slim given that the Allianz Arena side have once again raided Borussia Dortmund for their top talents. Last summer young German international Mario Gotze moved to Bayern Munich and now the club’s top-scorer, Robert Lewandowski, has agreed to join Pep Guardiola’s side on a free transfer this summer. Klopp may therefore feel it time for a fresh challenge after six seasons in charge North Rhine club. The 46 year old guided Dortmund to the Bundesliga title in his third season in charge, their first in almost a decade, the following campaign he helped the club to a domestic double and last term took them to the Champions League final. The former Stuttgart player is certainly considered one of the best young manager’s around and has a proven track record and arguably far more qualified to manage Man United than former Everton boss David Moyes. Jurgen Klopp is a personable boss who has formed a great relationship with Borussia Dortmund’s players and could be the ideal man to take charge of Man United and it’s something of an added bonus that the Stuttgart born manager speaks good English. Under David Moyes’s guidance Man United have suffered an unprecedented level of failure, losing eight of their opening 26 Premier League fixture, as a guide that’s already more than Sir Alex Ferguson had lost in each of the past nine completed campaigns. Man United crashed out of both the FA Cup and the Capital One Cup in the space of a very dark week in January and currently sit in seventh place in the table, some 15 points off the top of the table and 11 points off fourth place Liverpool. Though Moyes was handed a six year contract when he took over the reins at Man United the club are ready to shoulder the financial burden associated with breaking such a deal as they no longer feel confident he can turn things around. Indeed in recent weeks there has been speculation of a rift growing between Moyes and some senior players who do not feel the Scottish boss is the right man for the job.

Moyes implores United to keep the faith

Manchester United manager David Moyes vowed on Tuesday that his struggling team's fortunes will improve if they keep faith with their current methods.


United head into Wednesday's Premier League match at Arsenal having lost five of their nine matches since the turn of the year. The 2-2 draw at home to Fulham on Sunday, in a game that United dominated, left the champions seventh in the table, nine points off fourth place and 15 points below leaders Chelsea. Moyes defended his side's tactics against bottom-of-the-table Fulham and expressed certainty that United's luck would turn. "Football does that sometimes and we have to make sure it doesn't happen too often, but I do think there have been a few twists this season and hopefully we'll get them back in the future," he said. "You just continue doing the right things. We're doing the right things, we need to keep going and your luck will change, there's no doubt about that." Moyes also dismissed suggestions that defender Rio Ferdinand would not travel to a training camp in Dubai later this week, amid claims in the British media that the 35-year-old centre-back is due to announce his retirement. Ferdinand's contract expires at the end of the season, but Moyes said that the rumours about his future were wide of the mark. "I can only tell you that what was written was a load of rubbish, complete nonsense," the former Everton manager said during a brief press conference at United's Carrington training complex. "We've got a chance to have a few days off and we'll see. We've got a big Champions League game (away to Olympiakos) coming up in just over a week's time." The club subsequently confirmed that Ferdinand will make the trip to Dubai, while the player himself wrote on Twitter: "Must be another slow news day." United are not in FA Cup action at the weekend, having been knocked out of the competition in the third round by Swansea City. United beat Arsenal 1-0 at Old Trafford in November and Moyes is sure that his team can put in a similar performance at the Emirates Stadium despite their recent problems. "We'll always go and try to get a good result," he said. "We got a good result against them here at Old Trafford earlier in the season and we'll try to do the same again. "We've played better in several games, but in that one we got the goal and sometimes that makes a difference. We'll go and play. We are a top side and hopefully we'll go and show that we are, play well, and do everything we can to pick up the three points. "We played well (against Fulham) and in any other game you would have scored many goals. We didn't get it on the day. Everybody keeps telling me about the stats and the opportunities we had, so we had plenty of chances to win the game."

Zaha piles on Moyes misery

Wilfried Zaha has piled on the misery for beleaguered Man United boss David Moyes after taking a clearly aimed swipe at the Scot.


The 21-year-old posted a photo of himself with new Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Instagram with the message: "Nothing like someone who believes in you." Zaha removed the caption a short while later, perhaps after realising his comment was not so thinly veiled following his nightmare spell since joining United in the summer, where he had failed to make a single Premier League appearance. The winger eventually got his wish of a loan move to Cardiff until the end of the season, where he is clearly feeling the love from Solskjaer. It has been reported that under fire Moyes was not impressed with Zaha's atttitude, while their relationship had become further strained after rumours Zaha had slept with Moyes' daughter.

Ferdinand to retire?

Speculation suggests today that Rio Ferdinand is ready to call time on his career after he was omitted from Manchester United's squad for a warm-weather training camp in Dubai. It is understood that United will make a statement on Thursday concerning the defender's exclusion from the squad's 5 day trip to the middle-east. David Moyes and his team are set to fly out there after they play Arsenal at the Emirates tomorrow.


United have no game this weekend due to the FA Cup fixtures, so are using the time wisely. Ferdinand, 35, will not be on plane and now looks set to follow Nemanja Vidic in finishing his Manchester United career at the end of the season. Vidic confirmed last week that he would leave and is now set to join Serie A side Inter Milan. It is believed that United haven't yet opened talks with Ferdinand over a new contract, and he is now set to quit football and persue a career in media. The defender cost United a massive £29.1million when he signed from Leeds United in 2002. Since then, he has made 445 appearences, winning six league titles, a Champions League, two League Cups and the Club World Cup. He has also managed 81 England caps. Ex-United striker Andy Cole believes United will have to spend big on defenders in order to properly replace Vidic and Ferdinand. Cole told The Sun, "When you're in a situation where Manchester City could easily spend £50million on defenders this summer, you have to feel that United have to spend around £200million just to catch up. You have to consider that possibilty. Chelsea could comfortably spend £100million. United have to catch up, and even if they did, you still don't know whether they can win next season's title."
