Tapping The Keg Podcast Episode 69

What's it like to tape a podcast without knowing if Aaron Rodgers will be starting on Sunday?  Funny you ask because Mitch Pratt and Charlie Tritschler attempt to do that. They do talk Rodgers along with some Packers. Giannis Anetokounmpo's first start gets a lot of love from the guys whom might try to become best friends with Giannis by the end of the basketball year. Other NBA topics get discussed like Portland's hot start, putrid Knicks, Brad Stevens and more. The podcast wraps with some talk about how punters are not defenseless and why Brandon Browner would be a dummy if he sued the National Football League. Also a quick discussion on what you would have done with the Mega Millions won on Tuesday.

Indianapolis Colts punter Pat McAfee is easily the best punter in the league. Maybe not by actually punting,
but in terms of his personality, he is great. Remember McAfee delivered the hitstick to Trinton Holiday earlier this season. McAfee's new Vine shows off why people need to respect punters, and this new notion that punters are defenseless given Cincinnati Bengals punter Kevin Huber getting plowed last week is stupid.

I agree with McAfee to the highest degree. I am all for player safety, but at the same time, punters are a part of the play. If they want to make a tackle and get into the mix, then things like massive big hits can happen even if they are illegal. The thing is if Terence Garvin does not make the block there, Huber might tackle or trip up Antonio Brown preventing him from scoring the touchdown. Further, it was not like something on the sidelines where Garvin peeled back to hit Huber. It was a high hit, but certainly, not a dirty hit.

Punters are NFL players too thus the same goes for all players on the field, 'Tough to see big hits like that, but it is a part of the game.' We need to stop trying to think we can change all of the safety rules about football. Big hits on special teams players is uncomfortable, but it is a part of the game. Sorry for using cliches there, but these are the facts.
